Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 Review

Galaxy Z Fold 5 is a bigger, faster, and thinner phone than its predecessor. It also has better cameras and a hinge that folds flat.

Unfold the expansive interior screen to elevate streaming and gaming on the go. With dual app viewing, you can multitask with precision – shop two sites side by side or edit documents in different windows.

Dual Display

One of the Galaxy5’sFold 5’s most significant features is a dual display that allows you to use multiple apps at once. This is not a gimmick and works surprisingly well.

When you unfold the phone, it reveals a gorgeous 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. Playing games, watching Netflix, or editing documents is just like using a mini tablet. It also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling and animations butter.y sSamsung’smsung’s software also makes it easy to pin apps to the inside screen by simply dragging them from the app switcher. This is a featurGoogle’soogle’s Pixedoesn’tdoesn’t have.

Samsung has also made the cover and inner displays brighter, which makes them easier to see in direct sunlight. This is a welcome improvement since it will allow you to use the phone more comfortably when on the go.

Advanced Multitasking

Samsung has spent a lot of time and effort making the Galaxy Z Fold 5 easy to use as a tablet. In addition to improving its durability and adding a thinner hinge, this year’s version comes with software features that take advantage of the display’s size.

These include multi-window and two-handed drag-and-drop options, which help you move content between apps and screens. The Fold 5 also supports up to a 120 Hz refresh rate for the main screen, which you can enable in Settings.

The Flex Mode Panel, which shows up when you fold the phone into a clamshell or tent shape, is another useful feature. When activated, it lets you use up to four recently used apps in the taskbTaskbarnce (up from year’s year’s two). The app dock below the main display is also improved, now showing shortcuts for your top three apps.

Flex Mode Panel

Samsung reengineered the hinge for this iteration of its foldable phone to create a tighter, more compact design and eliminate the gap between the two display halves that was so inviting to dust, food, and crumbs. The flexible screen crease is still there but feels less pronounced to me than on the Z FIt’s4.

It’s also much easier to manage multitasking with this model since you can run up to five Windows apps simultaneously. Plus, the taskbTaskbar appears when you open an app in Flex Mode and now displays four apps that are used most often, up from two on the previous generation of Galaxy Z Fold smartphones.

When the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is partially reclined in Flex Mode, a toolbar appears that looks and functions like a laptop’s trackpad. This bar allows you to quickly access certain settings and lower the notifications pane, as well as quick shortcuts to split-screen mode.

Samsung’s new sleek design makes this foldable phone even more appealing. The 6.2-inch cover display feels thinner and more secure in your hand, while the 7.6-inch interior screen is more spacious and vibrant than before.

Thanks to the redesigned hinge, the crease is also less noticeable. Samsung also managed to boost the peak brightness of the main display, which now reaches 1,750 nits (up from about 1,200 nits on the Z Fold 4).

Other hardware upgrades make this Galaxy Z Fold 5 better than its predecessors in terms of speed and durability. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy is more powerful and efficient than before, and it comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. You can also add an extra layer of protection with accessories like a Slim S Pen Case, Eco-Leather Case or Standing Case with Strap. You’ll be able to select from three unique colours and Corning® Gorilla Glass Victus® 2 for a look that suits your personality.

IPX8 Water Resistance

Samsung has kept the Z Fold 4’s IPX8 water resistance feature. It allows you to submerge the phone in 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes. Please don’t use it in saltwater or sand because it isn’t designed to withstand such conditions. This year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and has 12GB of RAM. It has a high single-core and multi-core benchmark score and is excellent at running demanding apps and games.

It also has a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom on the back, and a 4MP front camera. Its sleek design and redesigned hinge make it a nice improvement over its predecessor. However, at $1,8, it’s still an expensive phone, so it’s up to you whether the upgrades are worth the price.

Performance

Galaxy Z Fold 5 is designed to keep up with your demanding games. And thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform for Galaxy, it delivers a more immersive gaming experience with its powerful processor and advanced cooling system that dissipates heat efficiently.

Samsung also improved the software features of the year’s model to make it easier to multitask with its larger inner display. For example, you can now open more apps in a split window with new swipe actions and two-handed drag-and-drop. And the new TaskbTaskbarhe inner display can now store more recent app shortcuts.

If you’re watching a video on the Cover Screen while waiting for your train, App Continuity will let you pick up right where you left off on the Main screen when you unfoWhat’s more, the main display on this foldable has a 120 Hz refresh rate, so you can enjoy smoother animations and scrolling.
