Apple iPhone 11 offers a great mix of features at a fair price. Its powerful chip, ample RAM and current software support ensure that it will be able to handle foreseeable technological demands.
The new iPhones are strikingly similar to the old ones in terms of appearance. However, they do pack a lot of new technology under the hood.
Display
The iPhone features an iPan iPhoneful, Retina HD display. It still sets state-of-the-art display performance standards, featuring high brightness, wide colour (DCI-P3), excellent contrast, responsive Multi-Touch, and supporting key features like True Tone and Night Shift.
The iPhone 11 features a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD with a screen resolution of 1792 x 828 pixels and a pixel density of 326 ppi. The iPhone 11 is rated at 458 pixels per inch, making it sharper than previous models, but still not as sharp as some other recently released flagship smartphones.
iPhone 11 displays have an extensive DCI-P3 Colour Gamut and a record-high full-screen brightness of 902 nits. This makes the iPhone 11’s display ideal for viewing and showing the latest High Dynamic Range mobile content created for 4K UHD TVS. The iPhone 11’s display also boasts an impressive Absolute Colour Accuracy of 0.9 JNCD (JNCD is Visually Indistinguishable from Perfect), which makes images, photos, videos, web content, and merchandise look their very best.
The iPhone 11’s display has a low Screen Reflectance of 4.5 per cent, which reduces the amount of ambient light reflected off the display surface. It features a built-in True Tone technology that automatically adjusts the White Point and colour balance of the display to match the ambient light conditions for optimal viewing.
Camera
Apple’s top-of-the-line processor provides the iPhone 11 with battery life that will see you through a second day, and its camera performance is among the best on the market. Its low-light capability is particularly impressive, bringing it closer to the class-leading Google Pixel cameras with a new Night Mode that automatically blends several shots taken over time — some short exposures to freeze movement and some longer to expose the shadows.
It can also detect objects, such as faces or hair, and process them differently, while adjusting the depth of the field to keep your subject in focus. This is perfect for portraits of people and animals, but can also work well on other foreground subjects. The Portrait Light feature has been enhanced to deliver improved results for close-up shots.
There’s a new, redesigned Camera app that makes the iPhone 11 more intuitive to use, featuring a row of camera modes above the shutter button: Photo, Panorama, Slo-Mo, and Time-Lapse. And there’s a quick shortcut to the Camera app on the lock screen, too.
And there’s a new feature that might surprise you – the ability to drag the shutter button left to activate burst mode. This might feel a little strange at first, but it’ll be great for capturing fast-moving subjects or multiple shots of a sunset or fireworks.
Battery
Over time, the rechargeable battery in every iPhone will diminish in capacity and peak performance capability. When this happens, your iPhone may experience slower speeds and unexpected shutdowns. Replacing the battery is an easy, DIY project that can restore your iPhone to its original speed and capacity.
The iPhone 11’s battery is designed to retain 80% of its original charge over 500 complete charge cycles. However, this capacity percentage can be affected by factors such as environmental conditions, battery care, and processor efficiency.
Suppose your iPhone’s battery health information indicates that its peak power capability is significantly lower than expected. In that case, an Apple Authorised Service Provider can replace the battery to restore its performance and capacity. When you get a replacement from Swappie, you can be sure that it is genuine Apple hardware.
Before replacing the battery in your iPhone 11, ensure the device is powered off and the display is removed. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from small parts that may become loose while you work. You will need a screwdriver to open the phone’s case, as well as a suction cup, plastic opening picks, and a spudger to lift and disconnect components. Be careful not to damage the digitiser or the connector bracket. Once you have the new battery in place, use adhesive strips to secure it in position.
Performance
Apple’s A13 Bionic chip and ample RAM ensure smooth multitasking, app launching, and gaming. It also handles high-resolution video content without any hiccups. The iPhone 11’s display is also quite good, although its glossy finish and notch do cause some issues with reflections in bright light, which can make it hard to read in certain conditions. The iPhone 11 also performs well in terms of display contrast and gamma, with its brightness levels being quite consistent throughout the range.
It’s also a strong performer in the DXOMARK video tests, exhibiting minimal ghost touches or disturbances when handling dynamic content and displaying a wide range of colours with highly accurate saturation levels. It also performs very well in managing judder, with no visible frame drops at 30 or 60 fps.
Another notable feature is the inclusion of Apple’s new U1 positioning chip, which is not mentioned on the marketing page but can be utilised with third-party Bluetooth accessories to provide more precise location information and other capabilities.
The iPhone 11 boasts excellent battery life, providing sufficient capacity to last through a full day of usage. It features a battery management system that can reduce its peak performance when necessary; however, this feature can be turned off in the device’s Battery Health menu. It’s also splash, water and dust resistant, with an IP68 rating (subject to some limitations).
