Samsung Galaxy Grand Series is a range of affordable mobile phones with great features. It offers a 5.25-inch display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and a 2,600mAh battery. It also includes Enhanced Multi Window and Dual SIM capabilities.
It comes with an excellent camera that delivers great photos even in broad daylight, and decent night shots. It also has a good, responsive screen.
Screen
Samsung’s first Galaxy Grand was a letdown due to its low resolution screen without scratch-resistant glass and underwhelming processor. Its successor is a better effort, but still falls short of the mark of a flagship.
The Galaxy Grand 2 has a 5.25-inch display that operates at 1,280 x 720 with a 16:9 aspect ratio. It’s a significant upgrade from the first Grand, which featured a smaller 5-inch WVGA display with only 187 ppi. The new screen is also brighter, with decent viewing angles and saturated colors. It uses LCD instead of the super AMOLED technology that Samsung prefers for its flagships, but it’s still an excellent display for this price range.
This phone runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and features intuitive features like Direct Call, which lets you dial a call by simply raising the handset to your ear; Smart Alert, which shows missed events including calls and text messages by displaying a notification on the screen; Popup Play, which allows you to watch videos in a floating window; and AllShare Play, which lets you share content from one device with another.
It’s powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and has 1GB of RAM, so it can handle most applications and games with ease. However, if you’re a fan of fast-action mobile gaming, this isn’t the smartphone for you, as it can have a noticeable lag at times.
Camera
The Galaxy Grand Series is Samsung’s first phone to include a dedicated camera. It has a rear 8 megapixel sensor with autofocus and a 2 megapixel front camera, Full HD 1080p video recording and a large display.
Pictures are colorful and have a lot of contrast, but they can be a little on the oversaturated side. The autofocus is quick and accurate, even in low light. Samsung has included important features like panorama and HDR, as well as night mode and burst mode. The flash is quite weak at close range, though, and some of our test shots came out blurry.
As with many Samsung phones, the TouchWiz user interface can be a bit overwhelming in camera mode. It also feels a little slow in general use. We would have liked to see a more streamlined Android experience, but it’s understandable that Samsung has had to sacrifice some functionality in order to hit this price point.
The Grand DUOS’s huge display is a great asset for watching videos and viewing pictures. Samsung’s Gallery app does a good job of categorizing files and resizing image thumbnails, although we did notice that it does not support some video codecs (like Xvid and DivX). As is typical with Cricket phones, the preinstalled apps are somewhat sparse. You’ll find the usual suite of Cricket management apps, plus a few Samsung titles, like Milk (music), and the newsreader Flipboard.
Battery
Despite its size, the Galaxy Grand Series has a relatively good battery. The phone uses an Android KitKat operating system and the 2100 mAh battery offers a good amount of talk time, even when used moderately. The device also has the ability to act as a mobile hotspot for up to eight WiFi-enabled devices and can play HD video on an external monitor.
The main drawback of this phone is that it is incredibly expensive. It costs nearly double that of budget phablets with comparable specs and is not particularly good value for money. However, it does offer a high-quality screen and decent cameras. The battery life is also decent and the smartphone can run many apps at once without consuming a lot of power.
This phone is an entry level smartphone with a powerful processor and a large display. It is a dual SIM model and it offers an excellent camera for capturing photographs and video footage. The device also has a lot of memory capacity, which is beneficial for storing music, videos and pictures. It is also an excellent choice for browsing the web and using social media networks.
This battery Replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo is of the highest quality and can offer up to 11 hours of talk time. It also has a higher power density, which means that it will charge faster and last longer than older batteries.
Performance
Galaxy Grand series is designed for those who demand more from their smartphones, offering a large screen in a slim and ergonomic package. It also comes with a powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core processor that supports seamless multitasking and lightning-fast web browsing. This device also has a generous 16GB internal storage space, which can accommodate more apps and games, and allows you to enjoy your favorite media without worrying about running out of storage space.
It is powered by Android 4.4.2 (Jelly Bean), a popular mobile operating system that offers a more personal and engaging experience. This phone is equipped with several Samsung proprietary software features such as Story Album, S Translator, Trip Advisor, Sound & Shot, and Group Play. The device is also capable of supporting multiple LTE networks and can be shared with other Galaxy devices via the Group Play feature.
The 5.0-inch WVGA display is very bright, but the pixel density is low at just 187 ppi. This won’t ruin basic text reading and social networking, but it does limit the clarity of photos, and resource-intensive videos and games may look choppy. The display also has a fairly high color temperature of 7,983 Kelvin, which can lead to a blue cast in some images and video footage. The display is protected by a layer of Oleophobic coating to minimize fingerprint smudges.
